Kayak training to Nepalese women
Kayak training to Nepalese women The Himalayan River Gide Association recently organized '1st Women River Guide Kayaking Training' with the objective of encouraging Nepalese women to take river guide as their profession.
The training kicked off in Sukute on November 15 and concluded after reaching Chatara on November 25.
A total of 10 Nepalese women took part in the training. Nepalese women were accompanied by women from New Zealand, the US, Norway, Australia and others. During the journey, the girls were given training on various aspects of kayaking, which the organizers hoped, would helped them develop as qualified river guides.
The Nepalese women received certificates from the members of First Inclusive Nepalese Women Sagarmatha Expedition 2008.
Sharing her experiences, one of the trainees Anita Sapkota said, "We learned many things. Our guides were very supportive and the idea of empowering Nepalese women is very good."
The training was supported by Drift Nepal, Ultimate Rivers, Paddle Nepal and Adrenaline Rush.
