Everest or upper Khumbu Region, the second most popular trekking area in Nepal, is the home to the world's highest mountains including Mt. Everest (8850m), Cho Oyn (8153m), Makalu (8470m), Ama Dablam (6856m) and many other countless peaks. The region lures thousands of trekkers and mountaineers to explore high mountain valleys, high passes, Buddhist culture and stunning Sherpa villages on such high altitudes. Trekking trails go through the valley of the Dudh Koshi River, Sagarmatha National Park immersing in the natural beauty and most outstanding mountain views all around. Spectacular forests of blooming rhododendron, blue pine and fir add an extra charm. Trekking to this region makes the travelers feel satisfied being at the base of Mt. Everest - the highest mountain in the world.
The highlights of this region include visit to Namche Bazaar, the famous monastery at Tengboche and excursion to Kala Patthar on the way to the Everest Base Camp. This area is also abundant with high-Alpine wildlife, which includes the Himalayan tahr, musk deer and pikka (mouse hare). Some of the spectacular birds include the snow crow, snow pigeon and the Impeyan pheasant (Danfe).
