A thrilling blend of adventure and natural beauty, Kali Gandaki River rafting offers an exhilarating experience through one of Nepal’s most iconic river landscapes. Originating in Mustang, a remote enclave of Nepal bordering Tibet, the Kali Gandaki River flows through an open valley before plunging between the towering Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges, forming one of the world’s deepest gorges.
First navigated by explorer Michael Peissel in a hovercraft in 1973, the river has since become a favorite among rafters and kayakers. With its continuous rapids, breathtaking scenery, and cultural encounters, this three-day rafting adventure promises an unforgettable journey through Nepal’s rugged wilderness.
Day 1: Pokhara to Maldhunga - The Adventure Begins
Our journey starts with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Maldhunga. Upon arrival, our professional rafting guides will provide a safety briefing and prepare the equipment. Once on the water, we’ll tackle thrilling rapids such as Big Brother and Small Brother before setting up camp at Modhi Khola for the night. Enjoy a relaxing evening by the river, surrounded by pristine nature.
Day 2: Rafting in the Kali Gandaki - Rapids and Waterfalls
After a hearty breakfast, we continue our adventure, navigating through the Good Morning rapid and several exhilarating class III and IV rapids. As we paddle, we’ll be treated to stunning views of the Himalayas and cascading waterfalls. Our second night’s campsite will be at Purti Ghat, a serene riverside location perfect for unwinding under the starlit sky.
Day 3: Final Stretch to Setibeni - Journey’s End
On the last day, we paddle towards Setibeni, encountering smaller rapids along the way. This section of the river is home to the sacred black rocks known as Shaligrams, worshipped by Hindus as manifestations of Lord Vishnu. Our rafting adventure concludes at Mirmi, from where we take a five-hour scenic drive back to Pokhara.
