A total of 395 reach atop Sagarmatha so far this spring

Altogether, 395 climbers have ascended the highest mountain in the world—Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest)—so far this spring. According to the Department of Tourism, among those who reached the 8,848.86-metre-high summit this climbing season, 135 were climbers and 235 were their support team Sherpas.

On Sunday alone, 135 climbers reached the summit of Sagarmatha. This spring, a total of 468 climbers from 47 groups obtained permits to climb the mountain. Among them, 86 were women and 382 were men, according to the Department.

Climbers from 57 countries received permits to attempt the ascent of the mountain known as the “roof of the world.” In addition to Sagarmatha, 700 climbers from 80 different groups received permits to scale 26 other mountains during this climbing season.
