Pokhara Prepares for the 21st Fewa New Year Festival
The Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal has begun preparations for the 21st edition of the Fewa New Year Festival, which will be held along the lakeside of Pokhara from April 12 to 14, 2026 (29 Chaitra – 1 Baisakh).
Association President and Festival Coordinator Laxman Subedi confirmed that the event will take place as scheduled, with a strong focus on promoting tourism, culture, and local cuisine. He stated that several sub-committees have already been formed to ensure smooth planning and successful execution of the festival.
The association’s First Vice President Deepak Shrestha and Second Vice President Ganesh Raj Pahari have been appointed as co-coordinators for the event.
Organizers believe that the festival will play an important role in boosting both domestic and international tourism while maintaining economic momentum in the region. Subedi also emphasized that one of the key objectives of the festival is to promote awareness about the conservation of Fewa Lake while celebrating the Nepali New Year in a vibrant and festive manner, similar to celebrations of the English New Year.
The three-day festival will feature dohori and folk music performances, pop concerts, cultural dances, food stalls, and various entertainment programs. Prior to the official opening, a colorful tableau procession will be organized along the lakeside area.
To promote the festival, organizers will also conduct “Jaun Hai Pokhara” promotional programs in several eastern Nepalese cities from March 23 to 27 (Chaitra 9–13), encouraging people to visit Pokhara and take part in the celebrations.
